Volcano Tours from Reykjavík
Fifty-four experiences leave from one city of about 140,000 people. The lava tunnel is 30 minutes away, the eruption sites 45, and prices start at 27.70 EUR.
Reykjavík carries Iceland's volcano market, and the reason is arithmetic rather than scenery. About 140,000 people live here, roughly a third of the country, and from the edge of the city you reach the Raufarhólshellir lava tunnel in thirty minutes, the Reykjanes eruption sites in about forty-five, and Þingvellir in under an hour. Nowhere else in Iceland has that reach. Fifty-four of the seventy Icelandic experiences on this site leave from these streets, and the twelve listed directly on this page are the ones that do not fit tidily into any of the five categories below.
The five categories below are not price tiers of the same day out. The Golden Circle is a coach route around water and one crater. Volcano Hikes are walks on the Reykjanes lava that came out of the ground between 2021 and 2025. Lava Caves are an hour underground inside a tube that drained 5,200 years ago. ATV and Super Jeep sell the vehicle rather than the destination, which is why they cost three times as much over similar ground. Lava Show is indoors and is the only one that guarantees molten rock. Choose by which of those sentences describes what you came for.
