Helicopter over the Reykjanes Eruption Site, Minimum Four to Fly
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
ReykjavikThe helicopter flies out over Reykjanes, where the eruptions of recent years left lava fields and craters across the peninsula. The volcano is not active at the moment. What the flight covers is the ground those eruptions changed, seen from the air. Four passengers are needed for a flight to go. Weather decides the rest: if conditions are poor, you are offered another slot or your money back. Departure is from ACE FBO Reykjavik, Nauthólsvegur 101, behind Hotel Natura.

Reykjanes Peninsula
Reykjanes starts 30 km (19 miles) from Reykjavík and is one of the most geologically active parts of Iceland. It has erupted several times since 2021, and the lava fields below the helicopter are that recent. The seismic record behind them runs to more than 50,000 earthquakes in recent years. The helicopter carries five or six passengers, so everyone is at a window and the flight can go both wide and close over the ground. Eruptions keep their own schedule. There may or may not be one when you fly.
Reykjavik
Reykjavík from the air, with the coloured roofs of the city running down to the cold blue of Faxaflói Bay. The coastline and the streets sit in the same frame, and the built ground stops where the Arctic country starts.
