The Golden Circle with the Secret Lagoon and Kerið, by Minibus
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
ReykjavikThingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir, and then a soak at the end of the day. The Secret Lagoon is the oldest man-made pool in Iceland, filled by hot springs that were already there. It is rougher round the edges than the big spas and less crowded than them, which is most of the point. Travel is by minibus in a small group, with a guide. Kerið crater is the last stop before the drive back to Reykjavík.

Reykjavik
The day starts with a morning pick-up from the point you choose in Reykjavík.
The National Park at Thingvellir
Forty minutes out of the city is Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, where Iceland's first parliament, the Alþingi, met. The park sits in the rift valley between the Eurasian and North American plates, so the ground itself is part of the history.
Gullfoss Falls
Gullfoss, the golden waterfall, at the edge of the Icelandic Highlands. It runs inside the canyon of the Hvítá river, fed from the north by the Langjökull glacier. The fall comes in two tiers and drops 32 metres. From the viewing side the water looks as though it goes into the ground rather than into a pool. It works in any season.
Geysir
The Geysir geothermal area, which gave every geyser in the world its name. The ground here is bubbling pools, clear springs and steam vents, and you walk between them. Strokkur, the active one, goes off every 4 to 10 minutes and throws boiling water 15 to 20 metres (49 to 65.6 feet) up.
Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin
The Secret Lagoon, the oldest geothermal pool in Iceland, in a lava field covered in moss. The water holds at 38–40°C (100–104°F) all year, and there is a small geyser beside it. Bring swim things or rent them on site.
Kerid Crater
Kerið crater, the Eye of the World, formed more than 6,500 years ago. The lake at the bottom is blue-green against red rock. The crater is 270 m (886 feet) across with walls up to 55 m (180 feet), and the walk round the rim takes about 20 minutes. Summer puts green moss on the slopes, winter puts snow and ice.
Reykjavik
Back to Reykjavík, with a drop-off at the point you were collected from.
