Golden Circle Afternoon: Kerid Only on the 10:30 Departure
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
ReykjavikThe afternoon version of the Golden Circle, for people who would rather not start the day at dawn. The route covers the same three places: Gullfoss, the Geysir geothermal area with Strokkur, and Þingvellir. It runs them in a different order from the morning tour, which also means you meet them at a different time of day and in different light. The condition to read before booking: Kerið is included on the 10:30 departures only. Later departures do not go there, even though the crater is in the name. If the crater is why you are booking, take the 10:30. At Gullfoss the Hvítá falls in two steps, 11 and 21 metres, with over 100 cubic metres a second going through. Strokkur erupts every 7 to 10 minutes, and it is the one that performs, since the original Geysir stopped. Þingvellir has the site of the first Icelandic parliament, from the late 900s, and the visible boundary between two continental plates. Food can be bought at the Geysir stop.

Golden Circle Route
The most popular route out of Reykjavik, taking in three of Iceland's best known places: the Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall, and Thingvellir national park.
Gullfoss Falls
Gullfoss falls in two steps on the Hvítá, the white river: 11 metres, then 21, with over 100 m³ passing every second.
Strokkur
Strokkur is the active one. Geysir, its bigger brother, stopped years ago, but Strokkur still puts water into the air every 7 to 10 minutes. Food can be bought at this stop.
Thingvellir National Park
Thingvellir is important twice over: the first Icelandic parliament was founded here in the late 900s, and the split between the Eurasian and North American plates shows on the surface.
Kerid Crater
Kerið is a volcanic crater 55 metres deep. It is included on the 10:30 am departures only, not on the later ones.
