Private Agung Summit from Besakih, or the Crater Rim from Pasar Agung
The starting temple decides where you end up, and the difference is not small. From Besakih, the largest and most sacred temple complex in Bali, the trail climbs directly to the true summit. It is the harder route and the complete one: past the temple grounds, into dense forest, then up. From Pasar Agung, the second highest temple on the mountain, the walk is shorter and less demanding, and it ends at the crater rim. It does not reach the summit. What it gives instead is the sunrise from the rim, with southern Bali below. Either way the guide is private and local, which means the pace is yours, the mountain is not shared with a queue, and someone who knows the terrain and the safety routes is walking in front of you. Help with photographs comes with it. The ground itself is forest, then volcanic rock, then steep path. From the top the view runs over Bali, out to Mount Rinjani and along the coastline. Hotel pick-up and drop-off are part of the service. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

Mount Agung
The ascent of Bali's highest and most sacred volcano with a private guide: dense forest, volcanic rock and steep path, with the view opening over Bali, Mount Rinjani and the coast. The summit arrives at sunrise, above the clouds.
Besakih Temple
The summit route starts at Besakih, the largest and most sacred temple complex in Bali, and climbs directly to the highest peak: through the temple grounds, into the forest, then up. It is the complete version of the climb.
Pasar Agung Temple
The shorter route starts at Pasar Agung, the second highest temple on the mountain, and ends at the crater rim rather than the summit. Less demanding, with southern Bali below at sunrise.
