Mount Agung by Night: the 3,142 m Summit or the 2,900 m Route
Agung is the highest point in Bali at 3,142 m and the most sacred mountain on the island for Balinese Hindus. There are two versions of this climb: the true summit at 3,142 m, or the shorter route that stops at 2,900 m. It is demanding walking. The track is dirt in places and loose rock in others, and it is done in the dark. What you get for it starts before the sun does. From high on the mountain at night, the lights of the towns below spread across the island. Then the light comes, the birds start, and Batur and Abang stand out of the ground with the rest of Bali underneath them. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
