Volcano Travel · Tour
Vesuvius First, Then Pizza, Then Pompeii
The order matters here: Vesuvius in the morning, pizza after it, Pompeii in the afternoon. The minibus leaves from Piazza Garibaldi. The road up the volcano stops at 1,000 metres and the walk goes on from there to the crater, at 1,281 metres, where an alpine guide service explains the eruptions. If Vesuvius is closed, for weather or for landslides, the tour goes to Herculaneum instead, with free time in the ruins. Lunch is on the slopes, at a pizzeria, and the choice is Margherita or Marinara. That is the whole menu, and it does not need to be longer. Pompeii takes about two hours with an authorised guide: the Forum, the Lupanare, a thermopolium, and the Stabian Baths. The group is brought back to the starting point at the end.
