Pompeii from Rome with City Wonders: Vesuvius Crater or a Geologist's Walk
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
RomeThe day starts in Rome, at Piazza del Popolo, and it is built to be configured rather than taken as it comes. Pompeii is the fixed part: skip-the-line entry and an archaeologist walking you through the streets, the houses, the baths, the shops and the theatres. The Extended Pompeii Tour spends longer inside the excavations. Vesuvius is the upgrade, and it splits in two. The crater hike goes up to the rim, with Capri and Sorrento in the view. The alternative is a slower naturalistic walk with a professional geologist, who works on what the volcano is made of rather than on getting to the top. Lunch is optional: three courses at an Italian restaurant above the Bay of Naples, with pizza, an appetizer and dessert. The group format is a choice too, between group, semi-private and private. City Wonders coordinators wear blue polo shirts or jackets at the meeting point. The day ends on Viale Washington, next to Piazza del Popolo. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
