Pompeii and Vesuvius from Naples: Choose the Crater Trail or the Valley of Hell

The part of this day that no other Naples pairing gives you is the choice on Vesuvius. Two trails, and you pick one. The Crater Trail climbs to the summit, where the view runs across the Bay of Naples and the crater sits open below you. The Valley of Hell Trail goes the other way, through the lava the 1944 eruption left behind, past the rock formations it froze into and a small lava cave. Guides work both trails and talk through the geology and the history of what you are standing on.
