Pompeii Guided Tour & Horse Riding on Vesuvius with Lunch
A day that starts in Pompeii and ends on a horse. Pompeii comes first, one of the best known archaeological sites in the world, with a local guide and the parts of it that need somebody to point them out. Then the vineyards on Mount Vesuvius, where the local food and the Vesuvian wine are. After that, a guided ride through the Vesuvius National Park at 500 metres above sea level, on the volcano that stopped the Romans where they stood. One thing to know before booking: the ride goes at a walk. It is time spent with the animals and with the view, not a chance to gallop.

Via Villa dei Misteri - Piazza Porta Marina Superiore 1, Piazza Esedra, 1, Pompei
The meeting point is outside the Hortus Restaurant, by Porta Marina Superiore, where the guide holds a TASTETHEXPERIENCE sign. That is unless you have booked a pick-up option. An automatic email goes out with all the details of the day, and it is worth reading.
Archaeological Park of Pompeii
The day starts in the ruins of Pompeii, with the queue skipped at the entrance. The guide is an archaeologist, so what comes with the excavations is the reasoning behind them, the part only a specialist knows. The route goes inside the domus, the ancient houses, and into the public buildings, which is where the daily life of the town becomes legible.
Finish the tour and you’ll continue your adventure in the…
From Pompeii the day continues in the Vesuvius National Park, away from the city and its noise, with birdsong instead of traffic. At the ranch, after a morning on foot, there is time to sit down to a proper lunch made from local products and served with homemade local wine. Then the horses. A short training session first, and once everyone is comfortable the group rides out into the park, at the pace of the ground and the animals. Beginners and experienced riders both fit here: the training comes first, and a guide stays with the group the whole way.
Terzigno
On horseback through a vineyard and into the National Park of Mount Vesuvius. Note the altitude: this is around 400 to 500 metres above sea level.
