Taal Town on Foot: Spanish Colonial Streets and the Piña Embroidery Market
The town of Taal is not the volcano. It is a Spanish colonial town that has kept its buildings from the early seventeenth century through to the early twentieth, which in this part of the world is unusual enough to be the reason for the trip. The visit is on foot, with roughly 20 to 30 minutes at each place. The market is where the town still works. Taal embroidery goes onto barong tagalog, mantel, fans, saya and placemats, worked on piña, jusi, gusot mayaman, cotton and synthetic cloth. It is all for sale, along with the local sweets. The day also runs up to Tagaytay and gets close to Taal volcano, so the caldera is part of it without being the whole of it. Pick-up and drop-off are free from hotels in Makati, Taguig, Ermita, Malate, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and Pasay, with an extra charge beyond those areas. Bookings are final and cancellations are not refunded.
