Volcano Travel · Tour
Taal by Boat (No Crater Trek), a Farm Resort Pool and a Picnic Lunch
Four parts to the day, and one of them is a refusal. There is no trekking into the crater on this tour, because Taal is still under an eruption alert. The boat goes out in front of the volcano and no further, and that is the responsible version of this trip rather than the abbreviated one. It starts on the Tagaytay ridge at 665 metres, where the volcano stands inside a caldera that is itself a lake, a shape that exists in very few places. Then down to the boat station and out across the water towards Volcano Island, with a local boatman explaining the geology and the history as you go. The afternoon leaves the volcano behind. An hour from Tagaytay, in the countryside at Indang, a farm resort has a swimming pool, shaded cottages and space to do nothing in. Lunch is a picnic prepared by the hosts, Filipino home cooking rather than a restaurant menu. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

Taal Volcano
A boat ride in front of the volcano. There is no trekking in the crater: it remains under an eruption alert.
Tagaytay
The Tagaytay ridge gives the view the Philippines is known for: Taal rising out of Taal Lake, a volcano inside a caldera that has filled with water, which is a shape found in very few places on earth. The air up here is cool and the panorama is wide, which is why people have been coming for generations.
Indang
A farm resort in the countryside an hour from Tagaytay, in among green and open air. The swimming pool is the point in this heat, and there are cottages and space around it for sitting still. The picnic lunch is eaten outside, with the country around you. Alta Rios Resort works for a lazy day, a swim, or family time, and not much else needs to happen.
