Side-by-Side Buggy at Arenal: Two Seats Abreast, Drivers 18 and Over
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaA side-by-side is not a quad. Two people sit next to each other in the same machine, which changes the ride: you can talk to each other, one of you can hold a camera, and both are in one vehicle rather than balancing on separate ones. The route works through rivers, mud and Costa Rican jungle, with guides leading and covering the biodiversity of the country as they go. It opens on a warm-up track, so everyone gets used to the controls before it matters. Then come the more advanced sections, which bring the group closer to the volcano, with a short break there for the views over the La Fortuna ranges and Arenal itself, on a clear day. After the backcountry the route reaches the Arenal River for a drink and a swim, weather permitting, and a chance to get some of the mud off before the trails back to the entrance. Two things to settle first: the company is fully insured, and the minimum age to drive an SBS is 18.
