Arenal Four Attractions in a Day: 16 Bridges, Waterfall, Lava Block, Hot Springs
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaFour attractions between 7:30 in the morning and the end of the evening, with both lunch and dinner covered. The day opens on the hanging bridges: 3 km of trail and 16 bridges, ranging from 5 to 100 metres in length and reaching 60 metres above the ground. That height is what makes the tropical humid forest worth walking, because the birds, reptiles, mammals and insects end up at eye level rather than overhead. La Fortuna waterfall comes second, with the pool at its base and rock canyon walls around it. Lunch follows at the operator's own restaurant, La Finquita. The third stop is a reserve at the foot of the volcano: 45 minutes of walking through humid forest to a block of petrified lava left by earlier eruptions, with Arenal and the lake in view along the way. Hot springs close the day. The main office is upstairs at the Lava Rocks Restaurant, beside the church in La Fortuna.

Arenal Hanging Bridges
The day starts at 7:30 am on the Arenal Hanging Bridges: a 2 mile trail, 3 km, with 16 bridges running from 16 to 328 feet in length, 5 to 100 metres, at heights of up to 196 feet, 60 metres. The forest here is tropical humid forest, and the height is what makes it good for spotting birds, plants, reptiles, mammals and insects.
La Fortuna Waterfall
The second stop is La Fortuna Waterfall, with a pool at the base and huge rocky canyon walls around it, which makes it a place to stay a while. Lunch follows the swim, at the operator's own restaurant, La Finquita.
Arenal Volcano National Park
Then a hike inside a reserve at the base of the volcano, about 45 minutes through humid tropical forest, ending at a block of petrified lava left by past eruptions. Plants and wildlife along the way, with the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal in view.
