Rio Celeste Combo: 90 Minutes of Tubing, the Blue Waterfall and the Tree of Peace
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
AlajuelaPick-ups run from La Fortuna, Tamarindo Beach, Flamingo Beach and the Papagayo area, all heading for the rainforest inside Tenorio Volcano National Park and the turquoise waterfall on the Rio Celeste. A local guide goes with the group. There is a short stop at the Tree of Peace, which has been standing for 400 years. The tubing lasts an hour and a half down the blue river, with stops along the way to swim and to eat fresh regional fruit. Lunch afterwards is typical Costa Rican, and the drive back is routed for wildlife rather than for speed: two species of sloth live along it, along with brightly coloured frogs, monkeys and a good deal of birdlife. The last stop is the souvenir market, before the drop-off. There is a self-drive option as well, with a private guide waiting at Katira.
