A private booking, which is what sets the pace of the day: no group to wait for, and a guide walking the trails with you rather than in front of a crowd. The walking comes to two or three hours and goes into the rainforest inside Tenorio National Park, where the Rio Celeste waterfall sits hidden at the end of the trail. The guide covers what grows and lives along the way, and how the forest here is being kept. The sloth sanctuary is the second half, and the operator guarantees you will see sloths. Toucans, frogs and snakes turn up too, depending on the day. Lunch is at El Sabor de Doña Carmen, a Costa Rican kitchen in Bijagua that keeps a butterfly sanctuary as well, which is where people go while the food is being cooked.
