Quilotoa with Breakfast, a Guided Descent and a Return to Quito by 8pm
A turquoise lake inside the caldera of an active volcano, reached and left again in a single day. Pick-up is at your hotel or hostel in Quito, and the time depends on which neighbourhood you are in. Breakfast is a stop on the way out. At Quilotoa the trek down to the shore is guided, so the lake is seen from the water's edge rather than from the rim. Lunch is at a local restaurant, and there is free time in the Quilotoa community afterwards. The road back stops at a crafts workshop in Tigua, whose paintings are symbolic work from the indigenous communities of Ecuador. The canyon of the Toachi river is seen from the car, its shape the result of past eruptions. The drive home takes four hours and reaches Quito around 8:00 pm, with drop-off at your accommodation if it falls inside the operator's pick-up and drop-off areas. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
