Private Etna Tour: a UNESCO Volcano, Its Lava Tunnels and Its Endemic Plants
Etna is a UNESCO heritage site, which is unusual for a mountain that keeps rebuilding itself, and this is the private way of getting to know it. The guide covers the story of the volcano, how it was born and how it has changed over time, which on a mountain still erupting is not a closed subject. The route takes in the geological and the naturalistic side together: the lava tunnels, the caves, and the endemic species of the Etna Park, the plants that grow on this mountain and on no other. Volcanic soil and altitude between them produce a flora that has nowhere else to be. The day finishes with a food and wine tasting at a local farm, on the best of what the Etna area grows. The meeting point is in front of the McDonald's in Piazza Stesicoro, Catania.
