Poás in Eruption Period, Doka's Organic Estate, and the Viewpoint Behind the Falls
Breakfast is at the restaurant on the coffee property, with the plantations in front of the window. The Doka tour then works the whole chain on a 100% organic, fully working plantation: harvesting, fermentation, roasting and export, with a tasting of chocolate, liquor and coffee at the end. Poás holds the second largest crater in the world and is the most active volcano in Costa Rica. It is currently in an eruption period: sulphuric acid fumaroles are usually visible, and the lagoon below them is turquoise. The viewpoint sits at 2,575 m above sea level. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is where the day slows down. More than 110 rescued species live there, including jaguar and puma, monkeys, snakes and amphibians, and the hummingbird garden alone holds more than 26 species. The trail passes the five largest waterfalls in Costa Rica, and one viewpoint puts you behind the water curtain rather than in front of it. Lunch is a buffet with more than 35 options. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
