Arenal Volcano ATV Guided Experience in La Fortuna

Ninety percent of this route runs on private property, and that fact shapes everything else about it. Outback protects and maintains the ground it rides on, so the trails are back roads through jungle and vegetation rather than public tracks, and the wildlife has reason to still be there. The secret jungle trail crosses rivers and runs through local wetlands, and the lookouts along it are the ones the operator uses for photographs of Arenal. The guide covers the history, the nature and the culture of the area as the group moves. The second half reaches the sacred land of the Maleku, an indigenous people of northern Costa Rica, where the subject is their own culture and traditions. One requirement to settle before booking: a driving licence or driving permit is needed to ride the ATVs.

What's included

  1. Arenal Volcano

The trail belongs to the operator, and it works for a whole family. It crosses rivers and runs through rainforest, with the history, nature and culture of the region covered as you go. Arenal stands in view from the open ground, along with the Fortuna Valley, and the cone shows its full conical outline from the lookouts, which is what most people stop for. There is wildlife along the way and time to look at it. The route then reaches the sacred land of the Maleku, an indigenous group from northern Costa Rica. That stop is about their culture and their traditions.
