Morning Etna Half-Day, Small Group: 2,000 m, a Lava Tube, a Farm Tasting
A morning on the mountain, in a small group, with a licensed guide. The walking goes through old forest, past extinct craters, and across lava fields with nothing growing on them. The area explored is at 2,000 metres, among the old lateral craters, and the early light is part of why the tour runs when it does. A volcanic cave is included, a lava tube, and the geological history of Etna gets explained on the spot rather than in a briefing. The morning ends at a traditional Sicilian farm, with a tasting of local products and wines. One recent change worth knowing: since 2 October 2025 the small Silvestri Crater requires a ticket, 5 € per person. The others are still free to visit, and the tour goes to those. The tour is shared. A private version can be arranged on request. Extras can be added to suit you, but they have to be planned in advance, so write ahead rather than asking on the day. There are two meeting points: Piazza Sant'Alfio in Trecastagni, next to the church, and Piazza Stesicoro in Catania, by the kiosk on the Roman amphitheatre side.

Mount Etna
The walk goes past volcanic craters and ancient lava flows, on ground where the morning light is still low. The route crosses old forest, extinct craters and lava fields with nothing on them, and the area explored is at 2,000 metres, among the old lateral craters. A volcanic cave is part of it, a lava tube, with the geological history of Etna explained where it can be seen. The morning finishes at a traditional Sicilian farm, with a tasting of local products and wines. Since 2 October 2025 the small Silvestri Crater needs a ticket, 5 € per person. The other craters are free, and those are the ones on the route; the small one is available if you want to pay for it.
