La Geria on Foot, with Volcanic Malvasía at Bodega Rubicón

La Geria is what the farmers of Lanzarote made after the volcano buried their land, and the way they did it exists nowhere else. This walk goes through it: 8.9 kilometres, easy to moderate, with guides who can explain what you are looking at rather than just point at it. Bodega Rubicón is on the route, one of the oldest wineries on the island, in a traditional landlord's house. Its wines have won awards internationally, and the tasting is of Volcanic Malvasía, the native grape. The walk ends on a terrace, with a glass of traditional wine and Lanzarote cheese. Allow four and a half to five hours in total. That includes the transfers, which are complimentary. Groups are kept small. If you are driving yourself, the meeting point is Bodega Rubicón.
