Fuji, the Kamakura Buddha You Can Step Inside, and Lake Ashi: Basic or Full
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
GinzaThis day comes in two versions, and the difference matters more than the price. The Basic option covers Oishi Park, Kawaguchiko, Oshino Hakkai, Arakurayama Sengen Park and Fujiyoshida. It does not include the Great Buddha, Lake Ashi or any meals. The Full option adds them. At Kotoku-in, the Great Buddha of Kamakura stands 13.35 metres in bronze and has survived earthquakes and storms since the thirteenth century. You can go inside it and look at how it was built, which almost no monumental statue anywhere allows. The Hakone part is a cruise on Lake Ashi, with Mount Fuji reflected in it when the weather cooperates. Oshino Hakkai is a village of clear ponds fed by underground springs from the mountain. An hour there, and an hour on the bus either side. Lunch is served at a restaurant there if you took the meal option; otherwise the time is yours to eat where you like. Oishi Park sits on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi with seasonal flowers in front of the mountain. One warning worth taking seriously: whether Mount Fuji is visible at all depends on the weather, and no operator can change that. The meeting point depends on the option, so check which one applies to your booking, and arrive 15 minutes early for check-in. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji brings people to Shizuoka and Yamanashi from everywhere. In Japan it carries a spiritual weight as well, and it has been painted, printed and written about for centuries. Whether it is visible on the day depends entirely on the weather.
Kotoku-in - Great Buddha of Kamakura
Kotoku-in holds the Great Buddha of Kamakura, 13.35 metres of bronze that has stood through natural disasters since the thirteenth century. You can go inside the statue and see how it was made, which is rare for anything of this size. The grounds are worth a slow walk. Available only on the option that includes it.
Oshino Hakkai
Oshino Hakkai, if your option includes it: a village known for spring water and for how it looks. Lunch is served at a restaurant here for anyone who chose the meal option; everyone else has free time to eat as they please. An hour in the village, and an hour on the bus, before the road continues to the foot of Mount Fuji.
