Etna Morning from Catania: Silvestri or Sartorius Craters, Six Hours
Six hours out of Catania, collected and returned at Via Giuseppe Garibaldi 39. Which side of the mountain you get depends on the day: either Rifugio Sapienza or Rifugio Citelli, with the walking done around the Silvestri craters or the Sartorius craters accordingly. Both give you cones to walk around and ancient lava flows to cross on the way up. A lava flow cave is included when conditions allow, entered with helmets and lamps. That part is conditional, and the operator says so rather than promising it. There is a tasting of typical products before the return.
