Etna from Siracusa: the South Side, with a Picnic by the Crater
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
SyracuseA day on Etna, the highest volcano in Europe, spent walking rather than driving. The paths cross ground that explains itself as you go: the geology of the volcano, and the vegetation that grows on nothing else. The old dormant craters are the objective, with a stretch along the rim of one of them. The route and the pace are set around whoever is walking.

Mount Etna
The walk is on the south side of Etna, on one of the best paths the volcano has. The lower ancient craters, around 2,000 m, are the main objective, with a stretch along the rim of the old crater. Going on to the summit craters, around 3,000 m, is possible too. Lunch is a picnic near the crater, and the drive back to your hotel follows shortly after it.
