The day starts high. The 1100 Altitude Wetland on Hallasan is UNESCO-listed, crossed by a boardwalk over alpine bog, and it holds the highest convenience store in Korea, which is a better place for a hot snack than it sounds. Jusangjeolli comes next: basalt columns in hexagons, formed when lava hit the sea and cooled too fast to do anything else, with the water working at their base. Cheonjeyeon falls in three tiers through forest. It is called the Pond of the Gods, and the Seonimgyo bridge beside it carries seven carved nymphs. Then a choice. Stay at the O'sulloc Tea Museum among the green tea fields with the tea and the desserts, or go to the Hwansangsup Gotjawal forest instead, where a 30-minute herbal foot bath costs 12,000 KRW paid on site and the entry fee is not included. Aewol Cafe Street is the island's best-known sunset spot, with the cafes lined along the coast. The day ends at Ihotewu Beach, where two lighthouses shaped like horses, one red and one white, stand by the water. Both appeared in the K-drama Welcome to Samdal-ri, and the pocha, the street food stalls, open along the shore as the sun goes. You can finish there, or at Dongmun market, and explore Jeju City on your own. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

  1. Jeju 1100 Altitude Wetland

The 1100 Altitude Wetland is UNESCO-recognised and rare for its height on Hallasan. A boardwalk crosses it past plants that grow nowhere lower down, and Korea's highest convenience store sits along it, with the mountain in view. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  2. Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff

Jusangjeolli is a wall of hexagonal basalt columns, formed when lava met the sea and cooled too fast to spread. They rise straight off the coastline with the waves breaking at the bottom. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  3. Cheonjeyeon Falls

Cheonjeyeon, the Pond of the Gods, drops in three tiers through forest and rock, fed by water off Hallasan. The Seonimgyo bridge nearby carries seven carved nymphs. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  4. O’sulloc Tea Museum

O'sulloc sits among green tea fields, and the time here is yours: stay for the tea and the desserts, or take the alternative and go to Hwansangsup Gotjawal for a guided forest walk and a herbal foot bath, 12,000 KRW paid on site. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  5. Hwansang Forest Gotjawal Garden

Hwansangsup is the quieter option instead of O'sulloc: a gotjawal forest, the tangled volcanic woodland particular to Jeju. Entry is not included. A 30-minute herbal foot bath with tea costs 12,000 KRW on site. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

    Costo extra

  6. Aewol Cafe Street

Aewol Cafe Street runs along the coast and is the island's best-known place to watch the sun go down. Free time here for the cafes, the sea air and the coastline. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  7. Iho Tewoo Beach

Ihotewu Beach, with the horse-shaped lighthouses and the pocha, the street food stalls, along the shore. Local snacks and drinks as the sun sets. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  8. Don't miss the iconic Red Horse Lighthouse at Ihotewu Beach

The Red Horse Lighthouse at Ihotewu, a filming location for Welcome to Samdal-ri and the reason a good number of visitors come here at all. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  9. Complete your photo collection with the White Horse…

The White Horse Lighthouse stands opposite its red twin, and appears in the same drama. Closures, weather or traffic may have the guide substitute a stop.

  10. Dongmun Market

The day can end at Jeju's oldest market. This part is unguided: anyone finishing here explores on their own.
