East Jeju: Seongsan in the Sun, Manjanggul's Cold Air to Finish

The east of Jeju in one day, with English-speaking guides, and the stops put in an order that makes sense for the body as much as the map. Hamdeok Beach opens the day, in the morning when the water is clearest and a coffee at a seaside cafe is the whole point. Seongeup Folk Village comes next: thatched houses and walls of volcanic stone, still lived in. The haenyeo dive at Seongsan without oxygen tanks, as they always have. On the first Wednesday of each month the stop becomes Micheon Cave instead. Until 31 August the route also takes in Gwangchigi Beach, which is the best place to see Seongsan from a distance. From 1 September it drops out. No forced shopping stops and no add-ons sold on the day. The day can end at Dongmun market, which is at its best as a night food market.
