Eastern Jeju: a Live Haenyeo Dive Below Seongsan Ilchulbong and Manjanggul

The east of Jeju in one day, with a licensed guide who does the driving and the explaining, in English and in Chinese. Two UNESCO sites anchor the route: Manjanggul, one of the island's great lava tubes, and Seongsan Ilchulbong, the crater that rises straight out of the sea. At the base of Seongsan the haenyeo dive. They are the women who have harvested the sea floor here for generations, and the show is live. When it cannot run, the day goes to the Haenyeo Museum instead, which is the same story told indoors. Seongeup Folk Village keeps the traditional houses, the stone walls and the crafts. Hamdeok Beach is among the three places on Jeju people name for the colour of the water, and Seoubong beside it fills with rapeseed flowers in spring. Four pick-up points run between 08:00 and 08:35, with an optional drop-off at Dongmun Market at the end.
