Wave Expeditions: 980-Metre Cable at 70 km/h, Then Class II-III Rafting
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaThe zip line half is the park's most extreme set of seven cables, and the numbers explain why. It starts with a climb up an 18-metre tower, 54 feet, to launch over a canyon 120 metres deep, 360 feet, which is the highest point in the park. A hanging bridge leads to the longest cable on the course: 980 metres, six tenths of a mile, running high above the La Fortuna waterfall with the town in view. Speeds on the cables reach 70 km/h, 43 mph. The rafting half is two hours on the Balsa River, class II and III, which is water with real rapids in it and no requirement to be an expert. Lunch is at Arenal Vida Campesina, Costa Rican and typical. Pick-up, drop-off and refreshments are in the price. Professional photographs are sold separately if you want them.
