Teide, Masca and Garachico in a Private Mercedes V-Class

The route as it stands takes in Teide National Park, the Roques de García, Masca, Garachico and Icod de los Vinos. None of it is fixed. The order and the content can be rearranged around what interests you, whether that is volcanoes, old villages, food, viewpoints, or places most visitors never reach. The difference shows up in the timing more than on the map. Nobody counts the minutes at a viewpoint, and nobody waits in the vehicle for the rest of a coachload to come back. Teide National Park is UNESCO World Heritage, and the road through it runs past old lava flows with viewpoints above them. The Roques de García are the rock formations that end up in most photographs of the park. Masca sits up in the mountains at the western end of the island, a few streets of traditional houses with the view opening out below. Garachico has the natural pools at the water's edge and a volcanic history the town still shows. Icod de los Vinos has the Drago Milenario, the dragon tree that is one of the symbols of the Canaries.
