Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo by Electric Van, Eight Seats
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Ponta DelgadaThe van is fully electric and it seats eight, and both of those change the day. Eleven stops, quietly reached, at a pace that leaves time to stand still at each one. Sete Cidades is approached from three angles rather than one. Boca do Inferno, which looks down the length of the crater and both lakes. Vista do Rei, the view everybody photographs. And the caldera itself. Lagoa do Canário, a small crater lake in heavy vegetation, comes before them. The west coast follows: Miradouro do Escalvado for the cliffs, Mosteiros for the lava rock pools, Pedras Negras for a view most itineraries drive past. Then Ribeira Grande, the island's second town, and Ponta do Cintrão for the cliffs there. Pico do Carvão, early on, is the stop where both coasts of the island are visible at once. Lunch is Azorean and included. The tour ends at Lagoa do Fogo, in the central highlands, inside protected land.

Stop at Pico do Carvão
Pico do Carvão, a volcanic viewpoint over the middle of São Miguel. From here both the north and south coasts of the island are visible, along with the volcanic ground in between.
Lagoa do Canario
Lagoa do Canário, a small quiet crater lake surrounded by thick vegetation. It is less visited than the others, and it shows the volcanic origin of the island plainly.
Miradouro da Boca do Inferno
A walk to the Boca do Inferno viewpoint, one of the most striking in the Azores, with the Sete Cidades crater and its twin lakes laid out below.
Vista do Rei Miradouro
Vista do Rei, known for the view over the blue and green lakes of Sete Cidades, and the most photographed spot on the island.
Caldeira das Sete Cidades
Different angles on the Sete Cidades caldera, which is among the finest places to stand in the Azores and in Portugal.
Miradouro da Ponta do Escalvado
Miradouro do Escalvado, for the coastal cliffs and the open Atlantic beyond them, on the rough west coast of São Miguel.
Piscinas Naturais
Mosteiros, known for its lava rock pools and volcanic formations, with a short walk along the coast and the Atlantic in front of it.
Viewpoint of Black Stones
Miradouro das Pedras Negras, a lesser-known viewpoint with ocean views and a clear look at the volcanic coastline.
Ribeira Grande
The centre of Ribeira Grande, the second town of the island and one of the handsomest in the Azores.
Ponta da Cintrao
A little-known coastal view, and the finest cliffs on São Miguel.
Lagoa do Fogo
The tour ends at Lagoa do Fogo, one of the island's best known crater lakes, up in the central highlands and surrounded by protected land.
