Quad to the Mirador de La Bermeja and Corral del Niño, 2,280 m
Start with the rule that decides whether the day happens at all. The driver has to show a physical, original category B licence. Not a photograph of one, not a copy, not the digital version in an app. Without the card in your hand the quad is not handed over and the money is not returned. Past that, the route. A safety briefing at the base in Puerto de la Cruz, then out to La Orotava and through the old town, where the houses go back to the seventeenth century. The road turns up into Teide National Park. The first stop is the Mirador de La Bermeja, which is where the sea of clouds sits below you instead of above. Then higher again, to Corral del Niño at 2,280 metres, with Teide in front and volcanic ground in every other direction. There is time at the top for photographs, which is most of why people ride up here, and then the descent back to Puerto de la Cruz. Photographs and a local snack are part of the price. The meeting point is Click and Quads, on Calle Aceviño.
