Quad from Granadilla de Abona to Las Cañadas del Teide, 70 km

Three hours and seventy kilometres on a quad, from Granadilla de Abona up to Las Cañadas del Teide, climbing to 2,400 metres. Forest at the bottom, volcanic ground that looks lunar at the top. As the road climbs the trees thin out and the sea opens up behind it. On a clear day La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro are all in view from up there. The highest part of the route is inside the national park, where the stops are the viewpoints: Llano de Ucanca, Zapato de la Reina. There is free time for photographs of the highest peak in Spain, and the guide uses it to talk through Teide's history and geology. The route is entirely on asphalt. That is not a preference: the level of environmental protection in these areas does not allow anything else. One requirement to check before booking. The driver needs a valid original physical category B licence, and anyone under 25 must have held it for at least two years.
