A private car, a private guide, and a schedule that can be moved around to suit you. The minimum is two people and there is nobody else in the vehicle. Pick-up is at your accommodation in Auckland, and the day heads for Wai-O-Tapu first, where thousands of years of geothermal activity have coloured the ground. Huka Falls is the one that surprises people. The Waikato River drains Lake Taupo through a narrow channel here, and the flow often approaches 220 cubic metres a second, which puts it among the highest volume falls in the world. From the observation point you look straight upstream into it. Lunch is at Taupo, on the shore of New Zealand's largest lake, with time to walk around the town. Rotorua closes the day: the lake, the buildings, and the geothermal ground the place is known for. The Redwood forest is an option here too. The drive back ends at your accommodation. Because it is private, the operator will adjust the running order if you ask before the day. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
