Over the Three Quarters of Maui You Cannot Reach: Haleakala's Rim and the Hana Rainforest
Around 75 percent of Maui cannot be reached on the ground. The terrain is too steep and the rainforest too thick, which is the argument for a helicopter rather than a rental car. The flight leaves Kahului Heliport for the north-east rim of the Haleakala crater, then crosses the East Maui rainforest, over the waterfalls in it and along the coastline. The narration comes with the flight and is done by someone who knows what is underneath. What the island looks like from up there: dormant volcanoes, old lava flows, rainforest, and valleys with water falling down them. Air Maui is the last hangar on the left at the heliport. The Google Maps Plus Code is VHR8+2X. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

Air Maui Helicopter Tours
Maui helicopter tours meet at the Kahului Heliport, which is easy to find. From the air the island reads as dormant volcanoes, rough lava flows, tropical rainforest and deep valleys with waterfalls in them. Roughly 75% of Maui cannot be reached on the ground, because of the terrain and the forest, which is what the flight is for.
