Mount Pico Guided Climb with Certified Azores Mountain Guides
Tripix Azores has been guiding on Pico since 2015 and has taken more than 10,000 climbers to the top of the highest mountain in Portugal. The guides are local and read the mountain as they go: the weather, the state of the terrain, the pace the group can hold, and how each climber is coping. All of them are Certified Pico Mountain Guides with high altitude experience, and all belong to AGMA, the Association of Azores Mountain Guides. The guide watches and talks to you throughout the climb and is ready to act if something changes. What you get beyond the summit is an explanation of what you are standing on. Pico is a volcano, and the ascent covers how it formed, what the rock has been doing since, and which plants and animals hold on at each altitude. Conditions change constantly on this mountain, and that is part of the subject rather than an inconvenience. The summit is the objective, and the volcano underneath it is what the guides talk about on the way up.
