Etna Quad Half Day on the North Side: 90% Off-Road from Rifugio Ragabo
Half a day on a quad, and nine tenths of it off the tarmac. That figure is the operator's own, and it is the number that separates this from the rides that spend half their time on asphalt. The route works the northern side of Etna: old lava streams to cross and a lava cave to go into. Etna Quad Adventure has been guiding visitors across the mountain for more than 25 years, which on a volcano that redraws its own map every few years counts for something. Getting there: drive to Linguaglossa, then take the strada Mareneve up towards the mountain and follow it for about 20 minutes, roughly 13 km. The Rifugio Ragabo is on your left. Parking is free and there is plenty of it. Arrive 15 minutes before the start, and look for the quads on the left-hand side as you face the rifugio.
