An itinerary in stages inside the Etna Park reserve, up to about 2,000 metres, driven in 4x4 vehicles. It starts at the lava flows that once threatened whole villages, then works the extinct craters and the lookout over the Valle del Bove. A lava tube is entered with a helmet and caving lights. The tasting at the end is the most specific part of the day: wine, liqueurs, oil, honey from Zafferana, sweet creams, savoury pesto and pistachio from Bronte, at the MontataGrande agritourism. The meeting point at Trecastagni is reachable by car, and it has free parking, bathrooms, coffee, and boots and jackets to rent. Pick-up from Catania or elsewhere can be requested, and the operator states the cost openly: up to 4 people it is 80 € in total, split between you; from 5 to 8 people it is 20 € each.
