Ecoterra 4-in-1: El Silencio Lookout, the Waterfall and 15 Bridges
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaThree sites and a proper lunch, in one day, for people who do not have a week to spend here. It opens with a 3.5 km walk in the El Silencio Reserve, over trails of solidified lava and through primary rainforest, up to the lookout. That point is as close to Arenal as anyone is allowed to get, and from it you see the lagoon, the forest, and the ground that earlier eruptions destroyed. Around 11:30 the group moves to the La Fortuna waterfall, 70 metres of it, where you can swim or photograph it and leave it at that. Lunch is at 1:00 pm in a restaurant near La Fortuna, à la carte, with at least five dishes to choose between, which is unusual on a group tour. At 2:30 the day finishes on the hanging bridges: a 3.1 km circuit with 15 bridges, some suspended and some fixed, walked at canopy height.

Arenal Volcano
The day opens with a 3.5 km walk, 2 miles, on trails of solidified volcanic lava and through primary rainforest inside the El Silencio Reserve, ending at the lookout. That point is as close to the Arenal Volcano as anyone can safely get. From it you see the Arenal Lagoon, the secondary rainforest, and the ground that older eruptions flattened.
La Fortuna Waterfall
At about 11:30 the group moves on to the second stop. The La Fortuna waterfall drops 70 metres, 230 feet, and there is time either to swim or to photograph the fall and the forest around it. At around 1:00 pm lunch is served at a restaurant near La Fortuna, à la carte, with at least five dishes to choose from.
Arenal Hanging Bridges
At about 2:30 the route reaches the Hanging Bridges. The trail runs through rainforest and over bridges strung above the treetops, which puts the plants and animals at a different angle. The circuit is 3.1 km, 2 miles, and takes in 15 bridges, hanging and fixed.
