Canyoning at Pocosol: Four Waterfalls in the Peñas Blancas Canyon
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaFour waterfalls, descended on a rope, inside the canyon of the Peñas Blancas River. The setting is the Pocosol forest, next to the Children's Eternal Rainforest. Rappelling down a waterfall is a different proposition from rappelling down rock. The water comes past you the whole way, the noise makes talking difficult, and everything underfoot is wet. The guides brief you before each drop and set the ropes. What they add beyond the technical side is the ecology. These canyons hold their own set of species, and the guides work through what lives around the water and why keeping the place intact matters to it. The meeting point is the ABC Canyoning office, 100 metres north of the police station. The guides wait there in white t-shirts with the company logo.
