Bromo and Ijen 3D2N, with the First Day Left for the Drive In
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
SurabayaThe difference between this and the two-day version is a night's sleep. Day one is nothing but the drive from Surabaya or Malang up to the hotel at Bromo, leaving at an hour you choose between 09:00 and 17:00, or matched to when your flight lands. You arrive, you go to bed, and the 3 am alarm on day two finds you already on the mountain instead of four hours into a car. Day two is Bromo. Penanjakan for the sunrise with a coffee while you wait, the crater climb, the whispering sand and the Luhur temple, breakfast at a local restaurant. Then the long transfer, five or six hours depending on traffic, to a hotel in Banyuwangi or Bondowoso. Day three is Ijen, and it starts at midnight, because the blue flame stops being visible the moment there is light in the sky. Two and a half hours of driving, then the climb, an hour and a half to two hours of it, with the sulphur miners working while you are up there. Down by seven, breakfast out of a box the hotel gives you. The last drive splits three ways: an hour to Ketapang Port if you are carrying on to Bali, seven to eight hours if you are going back to Surabaya or Malang. Private arrangement, all-inclusive, and the operator states plainly that there are no hidden costs.
