Borobudur, Prambanan and the Merapi Lava Tour, One Ticket for Four Temples

Two UNESCO temples and a volcano in one day. At Borobudur there is a local guide at the temple who offers a guiding service and walks you through what you are looking at. Merapi is the 4WD half: the Lava Tour, with an English-speaking jeep driver who does the driving and the explaining. Prambanan is the 9th-century Hindu complex, and the ticket is worth more than most people use. It also covers Lumbung, Bubrah and Sewu, in the same grounds. Reaching them is the catch: the site rents bicycles, scooters and golf carts for an extra charge, or you walk. The guide service there is offered by the ticket box, as at Borobudur. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
