Bandama Caldera, Spain's Largest Botanical Garden and Bodega San Juan

A half day out of the Port of Las Palmas, timed for a cruise call, with an official guide. The first stop is the viewpoint over the Caldera de Bandama. The crater is what the last volcanic activity on the island left, more than 5,000 years ago, and there are wineries all around it. Then the Jardín Botánico Viera y Clavijo, the largest botanical garden in Spain, where the subject is the endemic plants of the islands and how much of the flora is found nowhere else. The last stop is the oldest winery and vineyard in the area, with local wine and cheese to taste.
