Arenal Four-Stop Day with Set Times: Waterfall, Volcano, Mistico and El Choyín
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaFour attractions in one day, with an 8:00 AM hotel pick-up in La Fortuna and the areas around it, and the timing published in advance rather than left vague. About two hours at La Fortuna waterfall, which includes roughly 40 minutes to swim when conditions allow, and the 500 steps down and back up. Two and a half hours of moderate hiking near Arenal, then a 30-minute traditional Costa Rican lunch. Two and a half hours at Mistico, split between trails and bridges hung above the canopy. Forty minutes at the end in the warm water of El Choyín, on the Tabacón River, and a drop-off either where you were collected or in town. Transport, every entrance fee and lunch are in the price, so nothing is bought at the gate. The group is a shared one.

600 east of the Central Park, La Fortuna, Alajuela Province Alajuela, La Fortuna
The Sloth Park reception, about 10 minutes before the start.
La Fortuna Waterfall
About two hours at the waterfall. The forest trail down is around 500 steps, and the drop itself is 70 metres. There is time to look at it and, when the weather and the water are safe, roughly 40 minutes of that stop is set aside for swimming.
Parque Ecologico Volcan Arenal
Three hours in total here: a moderate two and a half hour hike on the trails near Arenal, through volcanic ground and forest viewpoints, then 30 minutes for a traditional Costa Rican lunch before the next activity.
Arenal Hanging Bridges
Two and a half hours at Mistico Park, split between rainforest trails and bridges hung high above the canopy. The views are wide, and the pace is slow enough to spot wildlife and the plants that only grow up there.
El Choyin
About 40 minutes in the warm natural water of El Choyín, a quiet stretch of hot springs on the Tabacón River with jungle on both banks. After that the drop-off is wherever you were picked up, or in town if you prefer.
