Arenal Hanging Bridges: 15 Bridges on a 3.1 km Circuit through 243 Hectares
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaThe reserve covers 243 hectares, 600 acres, of protected forest, and the way through it is on foot. The circuit runs 3.1 km and crosses 15 bridges. Some hang over the canopy and some are fixed, and they vary in length and in height on purpose: each one puts you at a different level of the forest, which is why they were built that way. From the ones up top you are level with the treetops, where finding birds and animals is far easier than it is from the ground. The terrain is straightforward, with a few short slopes, and it works for any age and any level of fitness. What lives in a forest like this: three species of monkey, a long list of birds, snakes, peccaries and frogs, among others. One administrative point that is easy to miss. You have to contact Ecoterra Costa Rica at least 24 hours before the date to confirm the booking and arrange transport.
