Volcanoes National Park by Helicopter from Hilo: 35 Years, Family Run
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Big Island of HawaiiSafari Helicopters has been flying the Big Island longer than any other company, and it has stayed in the same family for over 35 years. The flight leaves Hilo Airport and goes straight to Volcanoes National Park. On the way the ground below runs through orchid farms and native forest that, for the most part, grows on this island and nowhere else. Over the park itself the lava flows read clearly from the air, old ones and new ones alongside each other, with the difference between them obvious in a way it is not from a road. Three practical points. Check-in is 30 minutes before departure. There is no shuttle service to or from the departure point, so plan how you are getting there. And the building to look for is the small commuter terminal beside the main one, the one with the green roof.
