Tour to Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes and viewpoint from the cliff

Four sites in a day and no queueing at any of them: Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua, the Cueva de los Verdes, and the clifftop with La Graciosa laid out below. One thing to check at the time of booking. Entry to the Cueva de los Verdes is included only on certain options, so the choice made at checkout decides whether you go in. The rest of the day fills in around those four. The valley of the 10,000 palm trees at Haría, green ground in the middle of bare geology. La Geria, where the vines grow in volcanic soil that ought not to support them, with a tasting at a winery. The Green Lagoon in its crater. The camel track, where the ride lasts 20 minutes and anyone who would rather not can go through the small museum on the history of the island's camels instead. Jameos del Agua was the first Art, Culture and Tourism Centre César Manrique built, opened in 1968 inside a volcanic tunnel, and the guides go through what he was doing there and at the other works he left on Lanzarote.

Itinerary

  1. Cueva de los Verdes

The Cueva de los Verdes, in the north of the island and part of the wide volcanic ground of the Malpáis de la Corona, is a formation of rare value and a strange atmosphere, one of the things Lanzarote keeps underground. Entry is included only on certain booking options.

  2. Jameos Del Agua

Los Jameos del Agua was the first Art, Culture and Tourism Centre César Manrique made, a natural space worked inside a volcanic tunnel. It opened in 1968. The painter and sculptor turned the place into the fullest statement of what he believed: art made in agreement with the environment rather than against it.

  3. Situated 500 metres from the cliff

Set 500 metres from the cliff, with the view across the water to La Graciosa.

  4. Haria

Haría sits in the valley of a thousand palm trees, one of the best palm groves in the Canaries. The road climbs into the mountains and the oasis appears in the middle of bare geology: green ground and crops, dotted with the white of the island's traditional houses.

  5. Casa Museo del Campesino

In the geographical centre of Lanzarote, in San Bartolomé, the Casa-Museo del Campesino is César Manrique's acknowledgement of the island's farmers. From the bus you see the Monumento a la Fecundidad, also called the Monumento al Campesino: over 15 metres high, built by Manrique with the master Jesús Soto out of old ships' water tanks and assembled iron and concrete, and now one of the island's emblems.

  6. La Geria

La Geria is the vineyard country and an odd sight: volcanic ground, dry soil, and wines better than the terrain suggests. Vines are not supposed to grow in this. A stop at a winery for a short tasting.

  7. At the camel track

At the camel track the ride lasts 20 minutes. Anyone who would rather not can go round the small museum on the history of camels on Lanzarote instead.

    Costo extra

  8. Timanfaya National Park

The Fire Mountains came out of the eruptions in the south of Lanzarote in the 18th and 19th centuries: red craters, lava flows, ground that looks lunar. Their 200 kilometres are part of Timanfaya National Park, one of the largest volcanic events anywhere, both for the quantity of material thrown out and for how long it went on, six years between 1730 and 1736 during which the island did not stop.

  9. El Lago Verde / Charco de los Clicos

The green lake sitting in a volcanic crater, and one of the things most people come to Lanzarote to see.
