A morning departure from Vlychada, on the south side of the island, and a route that does not come back to it. This one finishes at Ammoudi, the old harbour below Oia. The first stop is ashore at the Black Mountain, for a swim, so bring goggles. Before that the boat passes the Red Beach, which gets its colour from the iron and the minerals in the soil, and the White Beach. Past the Venetian lighthouse at Akrotiri the boat enters the caldera, and that is where the guided part of the cruise starts. The cliffs show their soil horizons in bands of colour, and the guide reads them. Then the hot springs at the volcano, and Thirasia, a fishermen's island where the swimming and the snorkelling are the point and lunch is cooked on board. There is a BBQ and an open bar. If the timing allows there may be a stop at Agios Nikolaos before anyone goes ashore.
