Teide Cable Car and Roques de García from the North
Ratings collected by Civitatis
Puerto de la CruzBefore anything else, the rules for the cable car, because they exclude people and it is better to know now. Anyone with cardiovascular problems cannot ride it, nor can pregnant women or anyone with limited mobility, and there are footwear restrictions as well. Pick-up is from points across northern Tenerife, including Santa Cruz and Candelaria, with the exact time given when you book. The cable car takes about ten minutes to lift you above 3,500 metres, over ground that has been volcanic for thousands of years. At the top you have an hour. The Rambleta viewpoint looks across the Cañadas, and in clear weather the other islands of the archipelago are on the horizon. There are walking paths, and time to eat whatever you have brought with you. The descent stops at the Roques de García, where stairways run between the rocks and the Llano de Ucanca lies below. Seven hours in total, ending back where you started.
