Santorini Caldera by Day on a Kaïki, Vlychada to Ammoudi
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
SantoriniA kaïki is a traditional wooden boat of the Aegean and the Ionian, a small trading and fishing vessel, brightly painted and rigged for sail. That is what this cruise runs on, and it goes in the morning rather than at sunset. The route starts at Vlychada and works north. Red Beach first, near the village of Akrotiri, where the colour comes from the iron in the soil, with time to swim and take photographs. Then White Beach, which no road reaches, all white rock and clear water. Past the Venetian lighthouse at Akrotiri, nineteenth century, standing on the cliff edge and among the oldest in Greece. Past the Black Mountain and the Indian Rock. Around the volcano, then across to Thirassia, the fishermen's island opposite Oia, for swimming and snorkelling while the crew prepares lunch on board. The cruise ends at Ammoudi Bay, below Oia.

- Transportation from/to hotel with an A/C minibus/van

Vlychada
The morning cruise starts from the port of Vlychada.
Red Beach
A swim and some photographs near Red Beach, by the village of Akrotiri, one of the best known beaches on the island. The colour comes from the minerals and the iron in the ground.
White Beach
White Beach, reachable only from the water, which is what keeps it quiet. Clear blue water, white rock behind it.
Akrotiri Lighthouse
The nineteenth-century Venetian lighthouse at Akrotiri, on the edge of a high cliff. It is reckoned one of the finest in the Cyclades and one of the oldest in Greece.
Mesa Pigadia Beach
Past the rocky Black Mountain and the Indian Rock.
Santorini Volcano
The boat sails around the volcano.
Thirassia
Thirassia, the fishermen's island opposite Oia: swimming, snorkelling, and lunch cooked on board while you are in the water.
